Gary Gray of Italian Job and Be Cool directs.

Director Tomas Alfredson and writer John Ajvide Lindqvist (wrote the novel of the same name) bring a twisted take on vampire fiction from Sweden. Bullied by his friends, 12-year-old Oskar finds refuge, love and revenge in Eli, the girl living next door. Strange deaths are somehow connected to Eli, who doesn’t have much of a liking for the sun and food. Kare Hedebrant and Lina Leandersson star as the young duo. The film is set for a Hollywood makeover by Cloverfield director Matt Reeves.
Who should watch it? Those who find a blend of detached Scandinavian cinema and vampire gore an appealing combo.
Who should avoid it? Those who like their vampire fiction sanitized, sexy, stylish, and with Robert Pattinson in it.
