Turkish director's magic dust enchanting viewers of all ages

Turkish director Sinem Sakaoğlu is visiting Istanbul to attend the screenings of her debut stop-motion animation, ‘The Sandman and the Lost Sand of Dreams,’ at the Istanbul Film Festival. The Hürriyet Daily News & Economic Review talks to Sakaoğlu about working on stop-motion animation, and the creative process behind creating the magical Dreamland

Sprinkling magical sand over young audiences and the young at heart alike in her animation The Sandman and the Lost Sand of Dreams, director Sinem Sakaoğlu is turning heads at the continuing Istanbul Film Festival.

Screened under the Kids’ Menu section of the festival, the surreal animation reinterprets the much-loved Sandman, a mythical character in Western folklore who brings nice dreams to children by sprinkling some of his magical sand onto their eyes while they go to sleep at night.
