Legendary director/actor duo Yavuz Turgul and Şener Şen have reunited after five years for a film that will have moviegoers flocking to theaters. Last week has seen quite a commotion in the movie pages of Turkish dailies as Yavuz Turgul and Şener Şen – the country’s answer to the Martin Scorsese-Robert De Niro duo – return to theaters after a five-year absence.
Director/writer Turgul and his favorite actor, Şen, have united once again for crime drama Av Mevsimi (Hunting Season), reminding audiences how good they are together – the shortcomings of the movie notwithstanding.
Şen reprises the role of an old soul clinging to his past while trying to get acquainted with new times, playing a character reminiscent of his past collaborations with Turgul. He might be a familiar character, but Şen is older, wiser, more sensible, more grounded, and more in tune with the sensibilities of the contemporary era this time around.
